Practice Starts Tuesday February 5th. For February we have reserved T/W practice at the JM McDonald Sports Complex Saturdays when its available at the Field House TUESDAY Time: 9:00 - 10:30 Place: McDonald Sports Complex WEDNESDAY Time: 9:00- 10:30 Place: McDonald Sports Complex SATURDAY Time: 4:00-6:00 Place: Field House Spring Break; March 7th - March 14th Skirmishes Date Location Round Robin March 29th Cortland Hamilton, SU and Cortland (A great scrimmage. Cornell didn't want to play in the 32 degree temps, wind and 4 inches of wet snow, so Cortland played each other for over an hour, until Hamilton arrived. The Warriors played hard, scoring alot and giving up nothing, through most of the day. We played from 12:15 until almost 3:00, with only two 5 minute breaks. The team looks very good, best I've seen fighting for possession, the backs are fast, only a little space results in BIG gains. Blues Balls this weekend should be a good test. By the time SU showed up, our day and players were spent, so Hamilton and SU scrapped for the rest of the day.) Tournaments Date Location Blue Balls April 5th Fort Drum Cortland A's Cortland B's vs St. Lawerance U 34 - 0 vs Barracks Men's B's 10 - 7 vs Ithaca 19 - 12 vs Clarkson 25 - 12 Championship Game Championship game vs Barracks Men 21 - 22 vs Hamilton 0 - 30 (Competition was much better this year at Blue balls, with a very good Ithaca team and tough as nails Men's Barrack's squad. Our players were in charge of both games, leading IC 19-0 and the Barrack's 21 -10. Late game comebacks by both were a lesson of wind, heart and stamina. We have two weeks to prepare for the Upstate's, I will be looking for athletes with a do or die attitude. Our B's fought hard, over a dozen young guys illustrated their abilities, and made an impression, too many substitutions, destroyed any chance in the finals.) Tournament Date Location NYS Upstate's April 22nd Cortland Cortland 5 vs Brockport 29 Cortland 17 vs Binghamton 0 Cortland 10 vs St. Bonas 5 (Brockport was as good as I thought they might be, but at the same time our players were not playing Cortland Rugby. Poor tackling, and a lack of pride and heart lead to a very embrassing performance. But until you take a punch in the face you never know what you are going to do. The Warriors were nearly perfect verses Binghamton, were I added the try that was taken away. St. Bonas was a very good team, who crushes Cornell and lost to SU 0-12. Our vets pulled this out in the last minutes, with great play by Murray with a blocked kick and Hobbs with a run through two opponents. With only 5 players from the Fall season, I think our young guys will be dominant for a long time.) Greased Weasel April 28th Oswego Cortland 31 vs Oswego B's 0 Cortland 0 vs Men's Barracks 24 Cortland 19 vs Brockport B's 5 |
